Disappointment with Empire Carpet, LLC.
Dear President/CEO,
I am writing to express my disappointment with services provided by Empire Carpet, LLC.
My home was scheduled to have carpeting installed on Tuesday October 12, 2004 (Order # B044144). The installers arrived in the AM but informed me around 2:30pm that they would have to return the next morning due to a problem with a power tool. I cleared this with my supervisor at my employment and waited the next morning until 9:30am before deciding to call the installers to find out why they were not here finishing the job. They informed me that they had been told by their supervisor that they had to do a different job that day and could not make it out to the house to finish the carpeting. I was very upset and ended up arriving at my employment an hour late. The courtesy of a phone call to alert me that the finish work would not be completed on Wednesday Oct 13 would have saved me a lot of frustration and saved me from having to show up at work late.
Second, and more important, is the quality of the work performed. There are major flaws with the carpeting installed on the stairs. At the top of the stairs, in the hallway, about 4 from the banister post, is an indentation in the carpet, as if something heavy had been sitting there for months. It turns out that this indentation cannot be pulled up. It seems as if there may be a 1 strip of tack there which is holding the carpet down.
Along each and every stair there appears to be no tack boards whatsoever along the 10 sides against the walls/banister sides.
There are major gaps along the bottom stairs near the risers which are about inch wide.
Lastly, the craftsmanship all around the banister posts up and down the staircase is just poor with visible cut lines all over.
If this is the kind of service that Empire represents, I will not be a customer who recommends Empire Carpet to my coworkers, friends, and relatives.
Sincerely,
Scott A. Brodsky
I received no letter/call back from Empire Carpet.
